Earlier this year behind closed doors, Epic Games showed of a demo of what’s possible with Unreal Engine 4. Today, those details and screen shots have been made public.
According to a post by Wired, who was in attendance for the demo, it was “breathtakingly photo-realistic.” The clips ran on NVIDIA’s Kepler GTX 680 graphics card, which is the start of the next generation of visuals, and focused on an armored knight guy torching everything in sight.
While, yes, the environments and polygon counts are simply astonishing and beautiful, I can’t help but think to myself “…that’s it?” Maybe we need to see it in motion, as the new engine reportedly requires so much power to run it, Epic is asking Sony and Microsoft for beefier consoles.
Damn, those mountains look beautiful…
This is the second updated engine we’ve seen this year. Earlier, we saw the updated CryENGINE 3.
