Twitch Opens Merch Store Exclusively on Amazon

Twitch opens Amazon store

Twitch recently announced that they will be selling branded merchandise through Amazon.

In 2014, Amazon acquired Twitch for nearly $1 billion.

The partnership between the streaming platform Twitch and online retailer Amazon is growing ever stronger. The streaming service is now using Amazon to sell a range of merchandise including tees, tanks, cups, and hats.

This will be the streaming service’s first official merchandise store. Prime users can take advantage of free two-day shipping for all Twitch products.
Last year, the streaming service launched Twitch Prime, a program that allows members several perks.  Anyone who already has an Amazon Prime account can connect their Twitch username and receive free loot and one free channel subscription per month.

Amazon’s choice to include pilots of some of its original shows on Twitch has also strengthened the partnership.

Jennifer Dabnor, director of Twitch licensing, said of the store:

“Our community is devoted to Twitch and has been vocal about wanting to show off their love for the brand. Giving our community access to items like our coveted purple Twitch shirts and expanding into women’s fits and kids options allows us to embrace the broader community.”

The streaming service will continue to try to improve camaraderie among its community members by launching such initiatives.

In the future the subjects of the merchandise will become more varied as Amazon hopes to include “community-inspired apparel” rather than just branded items.

Hopefully Twitch-Con will generate some new ideas for products to debut in the online store.  Also be sure to keep an eye out for possible future streamer-specific merchandise. Dabnor claimed that a few ideas have been thrown out in that area.

Overall, the community surrounding the streaming service involves a lot of conflict and animosity among streamers and viewers.  It is clear that the company is trying to mitigate this problem by fostering unity among users.
