If you’re an owner of an Xbox One and love Twitch, then it’s time for you to get excited.
The Xbox One’s Twitch app has been updated, adding video on demand, a sexy redesigned homepage, and advanced directories.
Xbox One owners are now able to customize their homepage, giving gamers the option to stay up to date and follow the games that they enjoy watching the most. This new feature goes hand in hand with the already available option to follow broadcasters. The next feature is a directory of games on the service that allows for expanded filtering and sorting. If you want to find the best player dominating a specific game, then just use the drop-down filtering options that are now provided.
Video on demand promises to allow gamers the ability to watch streams that you might have missed while you were away taking final exams or going Christmas shopping. Twitch states that this is the first time this option has come to one of its apps.
Twitch also says that providing video on demand to an app should be the start of a brand new service that will lead to the extinction of saved videos everywhere with a “majority of VOD content added to the program by early 2015.” And if you’re a PlayStation owner like myself, there is nothing to worry about; the feature will be available for other platforms come 2015, including iOS and Android.
All Xbox One games will have the ability to support advanced directories at launch, including titles such as Halo, Sunset Overdrive, Minecraft, Assassin’s Creed Unity and Forza Horizon 2, giving these games expanded features.
