Total War: Rome II Announced by Sega

Longtime developer Sega has announced that they will be releasing a sequel to their multi-million selling, 92 percent Metacritic acclaimed game, Rome: Total War entitled Total War: Rome II.Sega has been developing games for 25 years and they saw it fit to revisit their roots. The brand director over at Sega, Rob Bartholomew, said the following,
In our 25th year of games development, it feels fitting to return to our most critically acclaimed era. There’s been a multi-generational leap in technology since the original game and we are ready to set another benchmark in gaming.
He’s right, there has been a giant leap in technology and the capabilities of how far gaming experiences can be taken. With the hardware we have today the possibilities are almost endless for Total War: Rome II.

Developer of Rome: Total War, The Creative Assembly, will also be taking the reins on the development of their sequel. Total War: Rome II promises to have “the most expansive turn-based campaign and the largest, most cinematic real-time battles yet seen in any game”.

Creative Director, Mike Simpson stated,
Our games have always encompassed a grand vision, but we’re now pushing that vision at both ends of the spectrum. From the immense reach of the sandbox campaign right down to the human-level drama of a single warrior on the battlefield, we’re aiming for an unprecedented level of detail and scale.
With Total War: Rome II The Creative Assembly is aiming to make the experience of war and battle that much more difficult by bringing it down to a personal level. Players will be involved in the most micro levels of war ranging from questioning one’s allies and loyalty to friends, as well as having to deal with the political strife that often comes with war through Rome’s senate.

Total War: Rome II will be releasing for PC 2013.
