Titanfall 2 Will Get A Single-Player Campaign In A Blunt World

Titanfall

In a recent interview, lead writer Jesse Stern reveals some juicy details regarding Titanfall 2 and promises a grand story of pioneers.

A lot has happened since the creative minds at Respawn Entertainment fixed their ideas in 2011 and started working on what became the first Titanfall. The fast-paced shooter presented us back then with a thrilling world of pilots and mech-styled titans, rooting its success in a very accomplished multiplayer core. But its somehow lack of deeper story lines and general content took a toll later on this Xbox One and PC exclusive.

That’s why Jesse Stern, lead writer of Titanfall 2, has appeared to reassure players that the studio is addressing the shortcomings of the first installment and working to deliver the sequels all fans deserve.

Titanfall 2

The Details

In a recent interview with Forbes, Stern confesses that the lack of human and technical resources limited the development of the first title, even if they knew its full potential. Two of these limitations prevented the game from offering a single-player campaign or a multi-platform release, for instance. Stern has confirmed now that Titanfall 2 will not only be widely available on all platforms (whether this includes Nintendo NX or not is still unclear) but that they will also provide a story line to be played individually. They have not gone into full detail about the scope of this campaign although we can expect to gain a deeper glance on the events surrounding the war with it.

If you have played the original Titanfall, you should not expect a dramatic change of environment. The folks at Respawn are still fascinated with big machines and full-scale, badass battles. “What inspires us is the junction of technological advancement with the inevitability of conflict and war,” Stern stated.

According to him, we will set foot in a world in which science and magic collide. A world that will still be “grounded, dirty, human and real”. When asked about a concrete vision, he refers to a story of pioneers, a kind of hybrid between the American Revolution and the Civil War in space. Comparisons aside, it seems that there are a lot of great things coming with this sequel and we cannot wait to see what the team is brewing for all of us!

When Is Titanfall 2 Arriving?

Distributor EA has not offered a concrete date yet. They are currently aiming for a full launch during first quarter of 2017 but all avid fans out there should wait for a more official confirmation by the middle or end of this year.
