Watch: 14 Minutes Of Gameplay From The Surge

Publisher Focus Home Interactive has released a brand gameplay trailer for Deck13’s upcoming action RPG, The Surge.

Clocking in at a whooping 14 minutes long, the video features commentary from Deck13 Game Designer Adam Hetenyi. The video focuses on the exploration of dystopian environments in CREO’s mysterious industrial and RND complex, the Abandoned Laboratories.

Equipped with an industrial exoskeleton, players must fight their way through CREO. Enemies can be taken out through the game’s unique limb-targeting system to attack and cut off parts of the enemy which can in turn be equipped or crafted. While targeting an armor body part of an enemy will deal less damage, it’ll still be staggered and ready to be on the receiving end of a finishing blow that focuses on the previously targeted body part. Players can loot from dead enemies in order to obtain gain blueprints and tech-scrap used to level up the exoskeleton.

Surging Through The Surge

The game’s combat features vertical and horizontal attacks, which are used in combination with parry’s, ducks, and jumps. In addition, a boosted dodge can help create swift and precise unique combat situations.

The Surge lets players progress through the campaign as they choose. You can either take on a plethora of missions and learn about CREO’s history, fight various mini-bosses sure to make the player’s life a living hell, or play it safe and struggle to survive. Throughout the game, players will come across who are in dire need of help or on the other hand can provide some assistance. Accepting these missions will yield extra rewards.

Deck13’s action RPG is currently slated for a May 2017 release for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
