The Elder Scrolls Online Homestead DLC Hits PS4, Xbox One

The Elder Scrolls Online Homestead DLC House

Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players received the free The Elder Scrolls Online Homestead DLC today. The free pack lets players purchase and decorate their own home.

The new update allows players to buy everything from an apartment to an island to call their own. The purchases can be made using in-game gold or the Crown Store – the game’s real money shop. The homes can be customized with over 2,000 items ranging from books to furniture. In addition to decorative pieces, players can also place useful items such as crafting stations in their homes.

The Elder Scrolls Online Homestead DLC Interior

The Elder Scrolls Online Homestead DLC adds nearly 40 homes for players to choose from and these homes are all located in the base game zones so players without DLC zones can access them. Players will need to complete a tutorial quest before they can purchase homes. The tutorial quest rewards players with their first home; “a modest room at a local inn,” according to the game’s official website.

Housing isn’t just a single player affair either. Players may allow friends and guild members to visit and even decorate their home, even when they are offline. Players can also create and sell furniture to other players.

The Elder Scrolls Online launched in 2014 for PC and Mac as a subscription based game. It dropped the subscription model and went free-to-play in 2015 just in time for the PS4 and Xbox One launch. The Elders Scrolls Online Homestead DLC is the first DLC pack released in 2017. It will be followed up this year by Morrowind. That DLC adds the region of Vvardenfell, the setting from 2002’s The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind.
