This is a weekly segment where we share what games we are currently playing for our readers to get to know us a bit better. Said games can range from retro to current and from casual to FPS games. If we’re playing it, we’ll share it. Please feel free to comment with what your playing or your opinions on the games that we’re involved with.
Jake: I’ve been playing through the usual routine (Heroes of Newerth, World of Warcraft) as well as dabbing in a little bit of Battlefield 3, brought back some Left 4 Dead 2 last week to practice for a LAN tournament (we won, naturally) and, of course, PAYDAY: The Heist.
Charles: I’ve been playing GTA IV: Episodes from Liberty City. I’m really looking at Rockstar to do something incredible with GTA V, because GTA IV is one of those games you go back and play just because of the massive amount of crap you can do in that game. I’ve also been playing some Mass Effect 2 again, I’m yet to see all of the endings. Rounding everything off with some NBA 2K12. I honestly didn’t think 2K could top their success with 2K11, they sure did, and made me look dumb for not having faith in them in the process.
Jen: I got Deus Ex in via Gamefly and I liked it straight away. I usually don’t like stealth type games but this one intrgues me. After only a few hours of playing it, I decideded to purchace it. Mainly because I know once the new games hit next week, I’m going to have to put Deus Ex to the side for a while.
Jeff: All I’ve been able to play is more Batman: Arkham City. After two weeks of what feels like nonstop playing, I still have nearly 120 riddles left and an entire side mission left unfinished. After that, I might just do it all again.
Tom: I’ve been playing BF3. I stopped myself playing the online mode until I’d finished the campaign, which is good. It’s not spectacular, but it’s good. The online mode, wow. There’s no better feeling than having a team full of great players, with each soldier class doing their job perfectly. With some big games coming out very soon, it’ll be interesting to see if the BF3 multiplayer can tear me away from the likes of Skyrim and MW3 . . .
Jasdeep: I didn’t have a chance to play much last week as I was slap-bang in the middle of deadline hell. However I did manage to put a few hours into Uncharted 3 and quite frankly, it’s probably the best looking console game I’ve ever seen. I won’t spoil any specific moments, but I audibly said the words “holy crap” on more than one occasion. I also decided to download Daytona USA from the PSN Store. It looks old, sounds old and even plays old, yet it still manages to hold a simplistic 1990’s charm. It does a great job of merging surface arcade playability with some moderately deep racing mechanics.
Chris C.: Been Tebowing in Madden in Head to Head online matches. Squeezed in a few matches of King of Fighters 2002: Ultimate Match & Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. Also recently exercised my Nintendo 3DS Ambassador rights and downloaded several titles to my 3DS have re-started a Legend of Zelda quest & messed with Mario Bros. which have both been a blast to play and it’s been great to take these games back to their roots and get a grasp on how much these games have grown by reliving the classics
Ben: I’m still very slowly playing through Batman Arkham Asylum. Some day I will make it through all the games in my backlog but not anytime soon. Also, it is almost time for Skyrim and I have to prepare by offering a goat carcass at an altar.
John: I’ve been playing Deus Ex: HR “The Missing Link” DLC and a small demo of Afterfall: Insanity. I’ve already beaten The Missing Link, but stealth achievements are my favorite kind so I’m trying to get them all. I’m also trying to take the final boss down in every way I can find.
Katerina: I’ve been playing Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (of course)! I started another play-through but this time on crushing, and it’s just such a wonderful game. The graphics, the characters… everything is so pristine. I’m currently trying to gain as many treasures and kills as I can to get a few steps closer to getting the platinum trophy for it… this would actually be my first platinum ever!
