The last year made me realize how dumb, heartfelt, and genuinely fun video games can be, and I’m happy for that. Each game on this list spoke to me in a way unlike any other game I’ve played.
While there were plenty of good to great games, there were few that really blew me away. However, after I went back through my library, it was easy to see all the great games I had played in 2016.
2016 was filled with a lot of great games, a lot of terrible ones, and a handful of surprises. Today, Logan focuses on 5 great games he picked for the top five games of 2016.
2016 was a bounce-back year for indie games; after a fairly pedestrian 2015, several indie games brought innovation and substance that really made an impression over some of the more talked about AAA games.
I’m fine with confining 2016 to the ash heap of history, saving only the things worth carrying on – each other, and the things we love. In that spirit, and in fairness to the remarkably wonderful year video games had, here are my picks for game of the year in 2016.
For better or worse, 2016 will go down in the history books as a year where the improbable happened. Although I haven’t played everything, I was able to power through some good games during the ups and downs of the year.
