Sucker Punch Speaks on Creation of Infamous: Second Son

As the launch of the PS4 draws closer, one of its most anticipated games, many are frantically looking for info on a game that won’t even launch with the system. Regardless, Infamous: Second Son, the next game in the Infamous franchise, looks promising, and a video posted to the PlayStation Blog looks to divulge some of the info we’ve been waiting patiently for.

SPOILERS FOR INFAMOUS 2 FOLLOW

For starters, Infamous: Second Son takes place some time after Infamous 2, where [spoiler alert!] series hero Cole McGrath, in the “good” ending, sacrifices himself to stop a threat known as “The Beast.” Of course, with the ambiguity thrown in at the end of the closing sequence — a lightning bolt just happens to hit the boat that Cole’s body is on, as his best friend Zeke prepares for a burial at sea — everyone instantly assumed he’d be back for the next game in the franchise. We were all wrong. He’s dead, and staying that way.

SPOILERS END

Anyway, Infamous: Second Son follows new protagonist Deslin and takes place in a world where the government has severely cracked down, almost District 9-ish, on anyone who has super powers. Sucker Punch Productions‘ Brian Fleming, Nate Fox, Jaime Griesemer and Horia Dociu go over how different this game is from the previous entries, as well as show off some of the gameplay you can expect when Infamous: Second Son hits stores in late February, 2014.
