Studios Are (Really) Making Games For Oculus Rift VR

The Oculus Rift VR is starting to pick up some more exclusive projects for it’s platform as more mobile gaming creators are starting to look at it as a means to foster new experiences. The newest developers to join in on the Oculus party has previously worked with games like Words with Friends, Age of Empires, StarCraft and Halo Wars.

Newfound owner and director of Playful Corporation Studios–previously Verse Inc.–Paul Bettner has made him and his team tightly linked partners with Facebook’s newest toy. With the experience of having dealt with mobile gaming apps similar to Facebook games that have made a huge mark on within and outside it’s domain, Bettner taking on the leading role in applying new games for Oculus Rift VR is quite an appropriate bond and especially so when you take in consideration of his work with Zynga Inc.

With E3 just a week away, Playful Corp. and Bettner will be showcasing Lucky’s Tale for the VR system, an adventure game primarily focused on third-person point of view. The studio is also planning to unleash Creativerse, a free-roaming game set to be the first Oculus Rift VR game to be sold on Steam.

“Virtual reality — I mean truly accurate, comfortable virtual reality — is the most important thing to happen to interactive entertainment in decades,” Bettner said. “Your brain is convinced that you are somewhere else, that you are in another world. I have worked my entire career to get to this moment, to create something like this.”

There may be hope for the Oculus Rift VR system to sustain a reasonable level of presence in the video game industry. Not many people took a liking to Facebook having bought out the system a few months ago, but having developers like Playful Corp. could help turn the tides in opinion of gamers everywhere. It definitely got us thinking. Just a tad.
