Needless to say, after Google’s reveal of its streaming service, Stadia, consumers and industry professionals alike are raving about its potential to change the way we game today. Of course, there have been other game streaming services, but none with the funding and wide breadth of users that a tech giant like Google could produce. Without worrying about the specs of a computer or lack of the newest game console, gamers can play franchises they previously were not able to or play them with higher quality. Here are some of our picks for what games we’d like to see on Google’s Stadia.
Halo Franchise
Halo captivates audiences with its space marine style FPS. For some it’s nostalgia, for others it was their first game, but for everyone, it has (until recently) been Xbox exclusive. Securing a big franchise like Halo for Stadia would be a big move for Google and also a win for PlayStation and casual PC players alike. Everyone will be nally able to play Halo on equal ground and equal multiplayer.
Rockstar Games
Rockstar Games has thrived off of its open world, do whatever you want franchises, such as Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire. These games are definitely favored by many gamers yet some are not able to play these games due to the large game size and the system requirements to run these games optimally. With Stadia, even people who have a run of the mill laptop can run any of these games at 1080p at 60FPS or even higher if their screens allow. Bring the people more mayhem, cowboys, and mysteries!
Monster Hunter
Capcom’s hit series Monster Hunter finally came to multiple platforms simultaneously in 2017 with Monster Hunter: World. The most recent in the franchise boasts modern, high-quality graphics and animations without sacrificing open-world (once again) and multiplayer gameplay. Stadia could, like mentioned before could lift that burden as well as make it easier for per se, a console player with a mediocre pc and their hardcore PC friend play Monster Hunter together by meeting in the middle with Stadia.
From Software
Ever been simultaneously frustrated beyond belief and amazed at boss battles in a video game? Odds are it was a game by From Software. Partnering with other publishers, this company has pumped the notorious Souls franchise, as well as Bloodborne and Sekiro. From Software is constantly pushing the envelope to bring better and better detailing to their games. If you look at the comparison from the first trailer for Sekiro versus it’s release the hair movement alone improved drastically. Talk about detail! With this in mind, it may be a worthy investment to buy one of these games either Sekiro or future games on Stadia so you can continue to run these games without having to break the bank upgrading to the next gen console or PC components. Definitely a money saver.
Cyberpunk 2077
A personal favorite upcoming game of mine, Cyberpunk 2077 looks like a perfect candidate for Stadia. This Projekt Red game will undoubtedly have beautiful almost next-gen graphics and possible longevity if it follows the companies’ previous IP, the Witcher series. This seems like a game that will be played by owners for hours at a time. Not only could Stadia, like said before could run it beautifully, but also take it you cananywhere with you. Addicted to Cyberpunk but going to Grandma’s without your PlayStation? No problem, just grab your computer, stadia controller, and some good headphones, and you are good to go.
The future of casual gaming looks bright with the Stadia reveal so far. Erasing platform lines between computers, reducing PC compent prices or laptop costs, and of course it being so portable. There has yet to be any further news about the prices of Stadia. There also has not been a clear answer whether Stadia will work on Mac computers but despite these unknowns, Stadia seems to be pushing game streaming past it predecessors like Nvidia Now and PlayStation Now into the next phase. Cheers, Google. Please don’t try and take over the world after this? Thanks.
