The fan developed and Capcom backed Street Fighter X Mega Man game is now available for PC through Capcom’s official website.
At least we’ve been told it’s available. The site’s down, presumably from being completely overloaded with page visits. Does this prove that there’s still plenty of interest in Mega Man now, Capcom?
We first learned of the title two weeks ago. Capcom released the game’s trailer, a project created by fan Seo Zong Hui. Hui presented the game to Christian Svensson, Capcom’s Senior VP of planning and business development at EVO 2012. Svensson was impressed enough that he brought Hui in and Capcom fully supported the project.
Fan reaction has been mix. While some are happy to get their hands on a throwback Mega Man game, others are upset that Capcom isn’t the ones developing the title themselves. Regardless, we can all be happy that we can celebrate a beloved icon’s 25th anniversary with a free game.
Once we download and play through Street Fighter X Mega Man, we’ll be back with our impressions. Hopefully it’s as challenging as the original titles in the series.
As a reminder, the game is only available for PC. A XBLA or PSN release is not expected, so don’t get your hopes up to play the game on consoles.
