Today Square Enix finally announced to fans that next year Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance] will release exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS in North American and Europe in 2012. The newest game to the Kingdom Heart franchise will feature new worlds and never before seen gameplay elements such as “Free-flow” movement with the environment and acrobatic attacks.
The game follows two popular main characters: Sora and Riku through their Mark of Mastery exam. They will face new enemies and allies, and if they can successfully complete their tasks they will become true Keyblade Masters.
Director Tetsuya Nomura stated,
With the tenth anniversary of the series on the horizon, the current KINDGOM HEARTS saga is approaching its climactic conclusion. The story of this game will serve as the opening chapter of the final conflict…
With the Nintendo 3DS as the newest platform for the series, it will be interesting to see how this bold adventure tale will be showcased in all its glory. If the trailer is any indication, it will be a great addition to the Kingdom Hearts franchise.
