Sony at their E3 press conference announced their new handheld gaming device. The name of the new device is ‘PS Vita’, Vita meaning life in Italian. The device itself is comprised of a front touch LED screen and, a rear touch pad with dual analog sticks. Sony is not one known for software, but when it comes to hardware there’s hardly any competition. The fans of the first generation PsP had major gripes with the device not having two analog sticks and I’m glad to see that Sony actually listened to the fans and also expanded upon the device with touch functionality on both the front and back of the device. Sony also took the initiative to price the device reasonably for both versions. One version is Wi-Fi only and will be priced at $249.99 and the other device that is 3g capable will be priced around $299.99. I look forward to getting my hands on a ‘PS Vita’ sometime next year.
Included below is video of Developer Commentary on the ‘PS Vita’ and the technology involved with it, and some quick snippets of Uncharted: Golden Abyss.
