SOEmote, Putting the 'Role-Play' Back Into RPGs

Sony Online Entertainment has announced that the SOEmote is now available for free to all EverQuest II players.

The groundbreaking technology of the SOEmote will allow players of EverQuest II to become even more immersed in the game, and add a unique dimension to the experience. The SOEmote features Live Driver, Image Metrics’ facial analysis and expression tracking technology. Using basic web cams, players expressions are analyzed and then transferred so that their character will mirror their expression in real time. In addition, voice font technology will allow players to sound just like the character they are playing as they speak into a mic.

In celebration of the SOEmote‘s EverQuest II launch, from August 8- September 8, SOE is inviting players to create a 30 second video showcasing the SOEmote in creative ways. Qualifying videos will be entered in a contest, the grand prize being a trip for two to SOE Live in Las Vegas, and the opportunity to have their video screened in front of gamers at the EverQuest II panel at SOE Live.

For more information on the contest, visit http://www.soemote.com/.
