Singstar Ultimate Party Cover Art Leaked

These are leaked mock-ups of cover art for Singstar Ultimate Party, the latest addition to the Singstar franchise, and the first iteration of said franchise on the PS4.

The latest release adds the ability to use a smartphone instead of a separate add on in the form of a microphone, something which had previously been a staple of the Singstar franchise. The blue and red microphones are gone, replaced by images of them on your smartphone with the use of a Singstar app. Sony says this will allow for more friends to join in as you all have phones on you anyway instead of requiring the purchase of two more mics for  four player games. Sony have confirmed that there will be both iOS and Android apps available, however those who use Windows Phone will be out of luck, perhaps unsurprisingly given that there is no PlayStation app or even any Sony apps available on that platform.

These screenshots were sent to us from a member of the PlayStation Voice community, which is a UK group of Sony selected PSN players who are sent surveys and can contribute to discussions on forum. Members were asked to describe what words these covers made them think of and comment on particular aspects of them.

While they don’t appear to give any new information away, they are a change in style from previous game’s artwork, which wasmost popular in the PS2 era. This could indicate a slightly new target audience in order to try and appeal now in the era of mobile games and dance games.

What do you think of using your smartphones instead of microphones? Are you concerned about the quality of the microphones? Easier or just cheaper for Sony to produce? Which cover is your favorite and why? Let us know in the comments bellow.
