Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director's Cut Is Up For Grabs

For all you sci-fi and fantasy lovers out there, the immersive world of Shadowrun is finally back in the form of Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director’s Cut on Windows, Mac, and Linux.

The game will set you back a mere $14.99 on Steam, GoG, and the Humble Store, however owners of the original Dragonfall expansion will receive the Director’s Cut for absolutely no charge.

Shadowrun City

When Shadowrun: Dragonfall was first released, critics were pleasantly surprised by developer Harebrained Schemes’ ambitious take on a truly immersive and story-driven RPG. Boasting an all-too-atmospheric cyberpunk setting, the game’s characters, turn-based tactical combat, and skill-based character progression system are bound to suck in the most vulnerable of players and leave them fiddling around in the world of Shadowrun for hours on end as they explore the main narrative.

The Director’s Cut does a fantastic job in offering a far greater Shadowrun experience to players. Speaking of the new title, Jordan Weisman, co-founder of Harebrained Schemes and creator of the Shadowrun game universe, proudly stated, “Listening to our fans is really important to us here at Harebrained. With the Director’s Cut, once again we’ve reacted to their feedback and made many key improvements to the game.”

For those who are new to Shadowrun: Dragonfall, Weisman continued, “It’s our biggest Shadowrun yet, and the perfect entry point for players with no prior Shadowrun experience.”

Overall, the Director’s Cut aims to add a host of new content and gameplay improvements to the original game. This includes five new original missions that take players to previously-unseen locales and a revamped combat system that improves AI behavior, adds an all new armor system and refines the cover and damage mechanics of the game. What’s more, the UI has been reconstructed for easier navigation of spells, items and abilities, while the option to fully customize team members now allows players the ability to change a teammate’s gear and general loadout before heading into a mission.

Shadowrun UI

As an attempt to create an even deeper immersive experience, composer Jon Everist manages to craft ten new tracks of moody cyberpunk music in the Director’s Cut. In fact, as a free bonus, the Director’s Cut includes the full soundtracks from both Dragonfall and its predecessor, Shadowrun Returns.

As if the above gameplay improvements weren’t a clear demonstration of Harebrained’s dedication to the title, the Director’s Cut will also feature new Steam achievements, alternate endings to the main campaign, slightly enhanced visual effects, new augmentations, items, cyberware, and spells, and creative writing and design tweaks throughout the game.

Shadowrun: Dragonfall – Director’s Cut is schedule to be released later this year for iOS and Android tablets. For those on Windows, Mac, and Linux, you can pick up game now for $14.99 on Steam, GoG, and the Humble Store. Remember, existing owners of the original Dragonfall expansion are able to snag the new Director’s Cut for free!
