THE DESIGN
You can easily tell that this is a Sennheiser headset. The logo is placed nicely and easily noticeable at the bottom of each side of the band. The band is made out of a plastic frame that has two leather cushioned ear cups attached on each side. There is also foam cushion underneath the band as well for a more comfortable feel so that the user can withstand long hours of usage. Nobody likes a headache! The ear cups are not the typical circular shape. Sennheiser formed the cups in the shape similar to ears to give it a more fitting sit.
Next, the microphone is attached to the bottom left side of the left ear cup. Unfortunately, the microphone is not detachable, but you can move it up and down to what works for you. Underneath that sits a 6.5 foot cord with a splitter for the mic and headset at the end. Plugging the headset for console party chats or your mobile device is just as simple, too. The box includes a 3.5mm attachment for that as well. This is so you can hear people and the gaming sound through the headset at the same time. Adjusting the volume of the headset cannot be any easier either. There is a circular adjusting knob located bottom right of the right ear cup.
SOUND QUALITY
I will admit that the Sennheiser GSP 302 emits great sound! Comparing the sound from my laptop versus my desktop is completely different, though. The sound while plugged into the laptop almost sounds like surround sound even though it’s only in stereo. As soon as I plug it into my desktop, for whatever reason the sound is just really low even at maximum volume. Maybe this was a small error on Sennheiser’s part, but sound quality is still great through console and mobile! It’s loud and clear. I would just say that this headset would not be that great for PC gaming.
MIC QUALITY
Aside from sound being important, you can’t forget the noise-cancelling mic. Unfortunately, while blasting the volume of the headset on my PC, the mic catches everything. If the volume of the headset were to be turned down, it’s just difficult to hear whether it be games or music. Though, the mic has a lot of clarity while speaking in online gaming chats like Overwatch, it’s still catching some noise.
Another great feature about the GSP 302 as well is that it works great with phone calls and video chat! If you need something else to use other than your usual earbuds, these would be a good substitute, too. Like mentioned earlier, it’s great for console gaming and your mobile device that you won’t be disappointed.
WORTH IT FOR THE PRICE?
Overall, the Sennheiser GSP 302 sits on the lower price range of their usual $100+ headsets for only $99.95USD. Is it worth the price? It sure is. If you are looking for something that can replace your current laptop, console and mobile devices’ headsets, then check out Sennheiser’s GSP 302. Although, I wouldn’t recommend the headset for PC gaming.
