Seagate Offers Up New Storage Options For Xbox One

Seagate 512GB SSD

Seagate has announced that it is releasing a new SSD for the Xbox One. The 512GB SSD will focus on fast booting and loading. For most console gamers additional storage has become a necessity rather than an option. Most games have an install size around 50GB. Limited internal storage often requires additional supplements.

The 512GB SSD allows for additional game storage for games and downloadable content. Gamers can archive less frequently played games on the console which allows for the SSD to take over on often played games. The SSD uses flash storage to improve gaming experience on the Xbox One. As many in the current console cycle can attest, load times and transitions between levels can be significant. Seagate touts the SSD as being able to load games faster causing less downtime.

The Seagate 512GB SSD will sell for $200. That price tag seems to be quite inflated when compared to a standard external SSD. Most 1TB SSD come in at half that cost. If load times are a sticking point for you during game play, and you need an alternative, then this seems to be a valid option. Personally, I am not sure any amount of promises on increased speed could justify shelling out that type of inflated cost.

The Seagate 512 GB SSD will be available in November at Amazon, GameStop and other retailers.
