Sunset Overdrive promises an OverCharge of explosive fun and chaos in the Xbox One exclusive coming out October 28th, 2014.
One of the most anticipated Xbox One exclusive games coming out this fall is Sunset Overdrive, a new game with an environment that brings on the apocalypse and it’s own take on the genre, calling it “fun in the end times”… an apocalyptic time where they decided, what if it was more like SDCC perhaps? Creators of Resistance 3, Insomniac Games is heading this vibrant, fun, extremely customizable title that will tingle all your senses in a very unique way.
Sunset Overdrive is a unique game that no one has tried to create before… We’ve never seen anything like it and neither have you… RIGHT? The game’s story starts out with a food corporation called Fizzco, who runs the world and has an EPIC screw up with their newly released energy drink “OverCharge Delirium XT” that may have inadvertently caused the “awesomepocalypse” and turned people into mutants. Don’t drink the energy drink by Fizzco and stay out of SexBurger… and you should be safe… we think.
At San Diego Comic Con 2014 we had a chance to sit down and check out the game and some of the extremely customizable options that gamers will be geeking over. Both genders, numerous races, clothing, items and unlockables will be available throughout the game and not just at the creation screen like most games offer.
We also learned that there are multiple “hero groups” that will work together to make the game even more interesting. Some of those hero groups include the Scouts, the Samurais, and the LARPers who think this is just a game… Yikes. Sunset TV will be streamed throughout the game and viewable on TV screens during gameplay to offer comical broadcasts and also to aid your hero.
Enemies come in all shapes and forms and most of them have mutated from Fizzco’s energy drink OverCharge Delirium XT that caused the world to succumb to a chaotic confetti of bullets and color. Some of the enemies have even mutated from random objects like leaf blowers and powered equipment that make them more difficult to beat than your average energy drink junkie.
In Sunset Overdrive your hero can pole vault, glide, slide, jump, power jump and not ever touch the ground… mostly. Cough, cough achievement time?
Overall, we find that Sunset Overdrive is going to blow your socks off. The game is aesthetically pleasing and has enough comical humor in it to make you laugh out of the blue. Insomniac Games did a great job so far and we can’t wait for it to release this fall.
