Rumor Mill Turns Around "Project Beast"

The rumors of “Project Beast“, or “Beast Souls” as some are calling it, are blowing up today.

Various video gaming forums are spreading screenshots that were taken from an anonymous trailer that is rumored to be for From Software and Sony Japan’s newest PS4 title. The trailer included a very brief description:

he walked around

fought enemies

i can describe a giant mindflayer type enemy

a character placing a shining magic sword into a pedestal at the base of a statue

a huge pyromancy fireball

shotguns

there was text “This is a nightmare.”

Visually, it looks like it could be an extension of From Software’s Dark Souls series. The most interesting notion being the mention of a shotgun. That would make the first time firearms were introduced into a title in that series. That aside, we see run of the mill “Undead with torches” and “Undead Dog”, albeit they are very large and menacing looking.

We can’t say for sure if these are legit Project Beast leaks or, if they are, that anything will come of them (early stage content is so often scrapped and entirely remade), but these are either for a game with a very similar style to the Dark Souls series, or someone out there worked very hard to make them look like they were.
