Rockstar announces "Multiplayer Free Roam" in Red Dead Redemption

If you thought Grand Theft Auto IV’s free roaming option was good, you ain’t see nothing yet.

Today, Rockstar revealed that it will have a “free roaming” mode in it’s newest Red Dead Redemption.

Just put it like this, the whole map is open to you and your friends, on horses. What’s the best part you ask? Well, that’s it. Anything is possible, and that is what makes this option so damn good.

Rockstar Games is proud to reveal Free Roam, the first piece of Red Dead Redemption’s groundbreaking multiplayer mode. Unlike any other multiplayer experience, Free Roam presents players with the entire, massive open world of Red Dead Redemption, right at their fingertips. Choose to explore the wild western wilderness solo, or join up with friends and wreck havoc as part of a posse. Eight people can be in one posse, while up to 16 players can explore the same, vast open-world lobby.

This is just one of the great modes coming for the mutliplayer, while “more structured competitive modes” will come soon.

Don’t just take it from us. Watch the video below and see what you think. We were truly amazed.

Red Dead Redemption is expected to be released on May 18 on the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3.
