Developer Psyonix announced that the Rocket League Hot Wheels update has gone live. In addition to adding two new cars, it also features improvements for the PlayStation 4 version of the game.
The two new cars are the Twin Mill III and Bone Shaker, which are available through the in-game store for $2 each. The update also includes a free Hot Wheels themed topper and antenna, as well as a free Shark Bite topper and Treasure Hunt flag for all players. Players will also start to receive Player’s Choice Crates as a possible end of match reward. These crates contain items voted as favorites by the Rocket League community. The winning items include wheels, decals, and car models as announced earlier this month by Psyonix.
The patch also improves performance on the PS4 version of the game. As announced in a PlayStation blog post last week, the new patch will allow the game to run at 1080p and 60 frames per second; PlayStation 4 Pro owners will see the game run in 4K at 60 frames per second. This change will affect all arenas in either single player or two-player split-screen games. In three or four-player split screen games players can expect “60 frames per second in most arenas at the same resolutions,” according to the post.
Full patch notes are available on the Rocket League website and include additional bug fixes.
Rocket League has been a smash hit for Psyonix. The game has reached over 25 million registered players and Psyonix recently announced a toy line debuting this spring. Psyonix continues to support the game with a regular stream of updates, including this one. Rocket League is available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
