This week, friends, family, and fans of Robin Williams have found ways to mourn and honor his life and legacy.
Blizzard Entertainment, the developer behind World of Warcraft, will do their part by adding him to their mega popular MMO, and one of Williams’ favorite games.
After his passing on Monday, World of Warcraft fans took to Change.org, with the intent of encouraging Blizzard to create an NPC, or non-player character, based on Williams. It didn’t take long for Blizzard to notice the petition, and the official World of Warcraft Twitter responded, saying that we would see him in the game. In case that’s not confirmation enough, game designer Chad Nervig tweeted that the team was “working on it.”
.@robinwilliams Thank you. You gave us so much joy in our lives, and we hope you enjoyed your time in our world. We’ll see you in-game.

While we don’t yet know when players can find the tribute to Robin Williams, he was a well documented gamer, having played World of Warcraft, Portal, and naming his children after game characters: Cody from Final Fight for his son, and the titular princess in Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda for his daughter. In 2011, Nintendo featured Williams and his daughter Zelda in a series of touching, tongue in cheek advertisements for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D.
