Rise of the Tomb Raider sales have been a question as of late, with many looking at the Microsoft exclusive to help close out the 2015 Xbox sales year.
Microsoft has confirmed that their latest instalment in the Tomb Raider franchise, Rise of the Tomb Raider sold “well over” 1 million sales to consumers in December alone.
This was touted by Marketing Executive Aaron Greenberg on Twitter earlier this week in response to speculation around the success of the game after it failed to amount to one of NPD’s the top 10 selling games for November of last year.
@PNF4LYFE It is sell-through and well over 1M units, big December!

There has been speculation that this holdup in sales is due to the similar release dates of Call of Duty Black Ops 3, Star Wars:Battlefront, and Fallout 4, a game released on the same day as Rise of the Tomb Raider in fact.
This bodes well for Lara Croft’s future however, as indeed she made her way onto many games of the year lists, including featuring as runner up of our very own action game of 2015 list.
The game’s PC release is slated for the first quarter of the year, so with a strong basis of success already, one can only expect to see the Rise of the Tomb Raider sales figures continue to rise in the coming weeks and months.
