Respawn Entertainment's First Game is Titanfall, Exclusive To Xbox and PC

Respawn Entertainment, the company that was founded by the former co-founders of Infinity Ward, is working on Titanfall, an online shooter for Xbox and PC.

Published by EA, the game will be exclusively developed for Xbox One and PC. An Xbox 360 version is also being developed, but those duties were handed to a different studio.

All of this news comes from NeoGAF user Catman86, who has gotten a hold of a leak of the newest issue of Game Informer.

The original plan was to get the game onto current generation hardware, but Respawn ran into a problem: current hardware wasn’t able to run the game. Not only does new hardware offer better technology, but it also offers cloud computing.

Yes, Titanfall will take advantage of the always-online Xbox One console and use Microsoft’s Cloud for dedicated servers, physics, and AI calculations. The game was built using Valve’s Source engine, but is able to achieve next-generation visuals thanks to the cloud computing. The game will also run at a smooth 60 FPS.

As for the game itself, it will have a multiplayer feel to it, with campaign multiplayer and “traditional” multiplayer options as well. A “One-player mode” is also available. Gameplay sounds like it’ll be an extremely fast paced game, with the player characters (pilots) and mechs found in the game (Titans) being described as quick, nimble, and agile.

Titanfall is also reportedly designed to be more accessible to newcomers, as it’s noted that you’ll survive longer than you do in Call of Duty.

It looks like we’ll learn a lot more about Titanfall next week at E3. Here’s to hoping we can get our hands on it.
