Our friends at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe, Arizona are producing a Mass Effect fan film that takes place 35 years before the time of Commander Shepard. The prequel, entitled Red Sand, stars Mark Meer (the voice of Commander Shepard himself) in a story involving the discovery of ancient ruins on the planet Mars that were left behind by the mysterious alien race known as the Protheans.

The film also features the voice talents of Ayman Samman and Amy Searcy with an original score of Mass Effect-inspired music by composer Mattia Cupelli.
