The ‘Reclaim Your Throne’ trailer was shown at yesterday’s Uncovered Final Fantasy XV event in Los Angeles, which left the crowd and internet viewers cheering madly for, well, Final Fantasy XV.
When we look at trailers for games such as Final Fantasy XV, a sense of excitement never lingers too far behind. This is especially true when the game takes a decade to launch. Fans were shown a new trailer last night during the “Uncovered FFXV” event and the trailer did not leave much room for disappointment. In addition to the game’s impressive graphics and adrenaline pumping gameplay footage, what really gave the trailer such strong positive feedback was the music used for said trailer. The English Indie-Rock group known as Florence and The Machine covered ‘Stand By Me’. This is considered to be one of Ben E. King’s most famous songs.
Florence Welch, singer for Florence and the The Machine, had this to say about the Final Fantasy franchise: “I’ve always seen Final Fantasy as mythical, beautiful and epic.” Judging from not only the crowd’s uproarious clapping but even the outstanding reactions on social media, it’s tough arguing that Final Fantasy doesn’t fit Florence’s description.
First announced at the 2006 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), the rollercoaster ride that is Final Fantasy XV, consisted of many high and low points. There was a time when the game was actually supposed to be Final Fantasy Versus XIII, a part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, but developmental issues put a stop to that. Things became even more bleak for the title when a nasty rumor went around during the 2012 Tokyo Game Show that claimed the game had been cancelled.
Since the original announcement of Final Fantasy XV, four core Final Fantasy titles were developed and released to the public. It’s been a long time coming.
Final Fantasy XV will be available on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles when it hopefully releases on September 30th. No details have been given for a PC version at this time.
