A Realm Reborn Will Not Require PlayStation Plus on PS4

During a live video broadcast this weekend, Square Enix announced that the upcoming PlayStation 4 version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will not require a PlayStation Plus subscription to play. As of now, PlayStation 4 players must pay for PlayStation Plus in order to play games online, but Square Enix will circumvent that requirement with A Realm Reborn. The game launched for PC and PlayStation 3 back in August, and is set to release in April for PlayStation 4.

The announcement came directly from the producers of A Realm Reborn as part of Square Enix‘s “Letter from the Producer LIVE” video series. This was the 11th entry to the video series, which has been going on since 2011, and was hosted by Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida and Community Manager Toshio Murouchi. The remaining videos can be found here.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is an MMORPG, and its development was largely a response to the poor reception of Final Fantasy XIV back in 2010. It is the third MMORPG in the Final Fantasy series.
