It seems like ages ago when Rare was a premiere developer in the industry.
Granted, it was ages ago when this was true. It’s been a long time since the days of Banjo-Kazooie and Conker’s Bad Fur Day. The now Microsoft owned developer may be primed for a comeback, though.
Recently, a trademark filing for Battletoads was discovered recently on NeoGAF. Then comes this tweet from Phil Spencer, the head of Microsoft.
Got to play the new @RareLtd game today. Rare building a uniquely Rare game, as it should be. Great visit to the studio.

Naturally, one would look at this tweet with extreme caution. Rare has been resigned to the role of a Kinect developer. However, considering the fact that Microsoft is perhaps shying away from the once mandatory Xbox One peripheral, could Rare be doing the same? Those of us that are old enough to not only remember the glory days of Rare but also the awesomeness that is Battletoads surely hope that this is a sign of things to come.
