PSA: PS4 Software Update 2.0 is Now Live

It feels as though we’ve been talking about this latest PS4 Software Update for years now but it’s finally available for download right now. It’s a fairly quick and subtle download and you probably won’t notice any changes at first but soon you’ll start noticing. For example, now there’s a wider array of voice control options as well as the ability to watch archived livestream footage. You can also pause downloads now and even play music from a USB drive. And of course the big one, SharePlay which actually works, albeit not in the way I originally thought it would.

SharePlay is set up similarly like a party chat where if you’re sharing the game, you become the host and have the ability to invite people as well as share the game with whoever is in your lobby. You can’t just drop in somebody’s game and take control whenever you’d like or during a livestream, it’s seems to be tailored for sharing with friends and especially people you trust.

Along with the PS4 Update, the PS App for mobile phones also received an update as well. PlayStation Access, an official YouTube channel for PlayStation published a very useful video highlighting 10 things you need to know about the new update. Check it out down below.
