Sony announced this week that it has sold more than 2.1 million PlayStation 4 consoles as of December 1. These sales span across 32 countries, including 700,000 units in Europe and Australasia. Sony considers PS4‘s North American launch the “best launch in PlayStation history,” and called it a “record-setting accomplishment for our company and for our industry.” The system became available on November 15 in the United States and Canada, and on November 29 in Europe, Australasia, and Latin America
Earlier this month, Sony of America’s president and CEO Jack Tretton predicted that the PS4 would sell 3 million units by the end of 2013. He also predicted that the console would sell 5 million units by March 2014, the end of this fiscal year.
