Press Start | What We Played for Week 25

Welcome fanatics to Press Start! This is a weekly editorial that dives into what we here at The Game Fanatics have been playing. No spoilers on the newer games that we’re playing but we will give you a quick insight on how good or bad it is. Games will range from retro to new, casual to FPS, we play it all!

Joel:

The Last of Us. That is all I am playing and it is all I want to play. This is my pick for game of the year and possibly one of the best games ever made! Moar!!!

Jen:

My NES has been working great. I was able to out some time into Life Force and Paperboy this week. Just a little inside information, we’re working on Throwback Thursdays. Every Thursday starting in July, we’ll be taking you back to the retro gaming days! (end plug!) With double experience weekend happening once again in SWTOR, I made sure I was all over that. My 3DS has been getting more and more attention as I play Theatrhythm Final Fantasy. I really want to try to unlock and collection everything I can! I’ve been trying to take my 3DS wherever I go to pick up Miis, but the task is harder than it should be.

Not sure how my body vanished.

Arnell:

Downloaded and beat New Super Luigi U (Wii U). It was a good DLC and provided a lot of challenge, but I kind of felt it should have cost less.

I also bought Game & Wario (Wii U). The single player is alright, but don’t expect the frantic paced games of past Warioware games. The multiplayer does shine as it is accessible for anyone and breeds yelling at each other. I do wish some of the single player games were also multiplayer as there are only 4 multiplayer games. Still, the game is definitely fun.

Ben:

Most of the week was devoted to The Last of Us. It is really really good. I don’t think it is quite the ‘best game evar’ like some people are saying but it is a GOTY contender for sure. This is what every Resident Evil game should be from here on out. Oh, and I play Animal Crossing every day to hit rocks with my shovel, appraise fossils, and experience crippling debt.

Greg:

Messed around with Mass Effect 3, tied up some loose ends. Played a little more Marvel Heroes, really dissatisfied with it. Started modding and playing Skyrim again. Downloaded some magic rebalancing mods and spellpacks. Time to blow up Skyrim! Also played quite a bit of Torchlight 2 over LAN this weekend. Great game.
