Pokemon X and Y are out in the wild as a retailer in Austria has broken the game’s street date.
This was to be the first time Nintendo has had a simultaneous worldwide release for the Pokemon franchise. However, leaks have been a bit of a problem. Information regarding the game has slowly trickled out, including the final evolutions for the game’s starters, unannounced Pokemon, and a third legendary.
This isn’t the first time a copy of the game appeared in the wild, though this previous instance apparently came from a Nintendo rep. This most recent leak appears to be a normal customer walking into a store and purchasing a copy of both games. Nintendo hasn’t been happy with the leaks. “Heads were rolling” over the previous instance. The company decided to do a worldwide release in order to prevent information of the game coming out from other territories.
They’re probably furious about the broken street date, releasing an army of Charizards onto any retailer that breaks the game’s street date.
For the rest of us, Pokemon X and Y are due out October 12th for the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo 2DS. Our (im)patient wait is almost over.
