Nintendo has released a debut trailer for Pokémon Rumble U that, in addition to showing gameplay, also shows off some nifty collectable Pokémon toys.
Well, Nintendo finally did it. They made a Pokémon game with collectable figures similar to Skylanders. It only took them two years but it was only a matter of time. I hope your wallet is ready.
The game is basically a battle arena game in the style of previous Pokémons, Pokémon Rumble(Wii) and Pokémon Rumble Blast(3DS). In my opinion, that could be a bit of a mistake. Collectable figures like this will sell better with a traditional Pokémon game but, if Nintendo is smart about it, the figures will work with Pokémon Rumble U and any/all Pokémon games in the future—namely Pokémon X/Y and the inevitable traditional Pokémon game for the Wii U.
Regardless, this is sure to be successful. People joke about the Wii printing money but collectable Pokémon figures that do stuff in the videogames? Now THAT prints money.
Pokémon Rumble U releases for the Wii U on April 24 in Japan. In US monies the game comes in at about $20 and the figures are around $2 each. Not a bad deal in the slightest. A US release has yet to be announced but I’m sure it will be coming over soon enough. Until then, enjoy the Japanese reveal trailer.
