The New NBA 2K16 Trailer Is #WINNING

NBA 2K16 is so close, and 2K Sports is just getting started with their marketing campaign for the highly-anticipated basketball franchise.

Today, they released a trailer that is filled with game-play and some insignificant details that on the surface don’t do much for game-play, but speak volumes to Visual Concepts commitment to authenticity — Steph Curry plays with his freaking mouthpiece.

The definition of attention to detail.

The trailer is your usual first look at the game-play for NBA 2K16, and showcases some of the work that Visual Concepts have been doing in the motion capture department, not just in celebrations —James Harden does his signature chef celebration– but, also, in the handling of the basketball and shooting. For instance, Steph Curry does a couple of layups in the trailer that looks true to life. The trailer also reminded me how hideous the new Los Angeles Clippers’ uniforms are.

The amazing trailer wasn’t enough for Visual Concepts. They also wanted to give us a sneak peek at possibly one of the choices players will be facing in NBA 2K16‘s MyPLAYER mode that’s being directed by Spike Lee. In the teaser at the end of the trailer  a character is making an announcement on what college he will be attending in front of a camera with what is presumably his family. It was reported in an interview with Spike Lee that the main character’s name of NBA 2K16‘s MyPLAYER would be Frequency Vibrations, possibly this is our first look at the eccentrically named character?

NBA 2K16 is due out September 29th.
