What We Played | August 27 – September 2

This is a weekly segment where we share what games we are currently playing. Said games can range from retro to current and from casual to FPS games. If we’re playing it, we’ll share it. Please feel free to comment with what you’re playing or your opinions on the games that we’re involved with.

Jeff:  I took a break from Gran Turismo this week, and played completely through Halo 3: ODST, and started Vanquish again to unlock the challenge modes. Other than a stroll around Arkham City, I didn’t put in much game time this week. I’ll have to fix that with, maybe with a little Metal Gear.

Luis: Ironically enough, seeing Jeff talk about Gran Turismo 5 this past week made me want to pop it in again. I did a few races with my Chevy Camaro as well as upgrade the engine and such. It sounds so beautiful. Also started to replay the Assassin’s Creed games featuring the assassin Ezio. I watched Assassin’s Creed Embers again just to bring it in full circle as well. Can’t wait for Assassin’s Creed 3. EHRMAHGERD. Oh, and I randomly popped in Bioshock 2 into my PS3 again. I then wrapped it up by playing Bastion on my PC. Such a fun game.

Joel: Finally purchased Dead Island and am loving it. Also started taking advantage of PS1 compatibility on the PS Vita with a download of Final Fantasy VII.

Enis:  I put a halt to playing Borderlands for a bit to continue my play through of Mass Effect 3. Leviathan was indeed interesting, I’ll have a review about it up shortly. I’m going to finish the game so I can get 100% achievement completion. I played Halo 3: ODST briefly for more achievements but the Vid-Masters are tough without friends. One day though!

Jake: More WoW. Got the rogue to 80 and now I’m dual boxing up a priest and a mage. Pennance is OP for DPS at low levels, which makes absolutely no sense since the priest is Disc specced.

Jen: Started the week with some Star Wars: The Old Republic. I’m getting closer to being level 50 with my Dark Jedi. I have a Jedi that I have already gotten to level 50, but bring a Bioware game with both good and bad sides of the coin, I just had to play SWTOR as a Dark Jedi, which at times doesn’t even feel like a Dark Jedi at all, but instead she’s just a jerk. Once PAX started, I didn’t have to time to play any games that I had access to on my laptop. First game that I played at PAX was Halo 4. I knew the line would be massive and that I had to get to Halo 4 as soon as possible. I’m so glad that I did, and along with William and Ryan, we played a around of Capture the Flag and then some Slayer (we won both matches by the way). I didn’t notice until I looked at the score, that instead of how many kills your team gets, it now based on how many points. Being able to kill people with the flag now is just outright fantastic. Another game I tried out was the port of NiGHTS into Dreams, the XBLA version. To this day I love NiGHTS into Dreams. I still own my copy for the Sega Saturn, along with the controller that came with it. Playing the game at PAX brought back great memories of the game. It played smooth and crisp and I await its release with open arms. I could go on and on with the games that I played at PAX, however I think that’s best for another article, don’t you think?
