PAX Prime | Quick Look at Sonic Lost World

The Game Fanatics got a chance to try out Sonic Lost World at PAX Prime 2013. The version that I tried out was for the Nintendo 3DS system. I’ve been a Sonic fan since the very beginning and I was eager to try out the newest installment. Once I started to play Sonic Lost World I felt a little out of place. Perhaps I’m just so used to playing Sonic the traditional way and I found it hard to get into Sonic Lost World. This feeling mostly comes from the gameplay. Lost World is a 3D game which means Sonic doesn’t run straight. The world turns with you, allowing you to use different levels of the map. This concept is amazing, mind you, but sadly I found myself running into walls and being more frustrated. I want to make Sonic run. I didn’t want to worry about jumping or running fast only to run face first into a wall. If I had more time with Sonic Lost World I might have gotten more comfortable with the controls. The sounds and visuals are what you expect from a Sonic game and that is refreshing. First impression of the game was mixed. If given the change to try out Sonic Lost World again, I would certainly give it another go.

Sonic Lost World is to be released this October for the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Wii U. Both games play slightly different depending on your system of choice.
