Every year, at events like PAX Prime in Seattle, developers showcase the latest trailers and demos for their hot new titles. This year, we’re eagerly awaiting news for these great looking titles:
Sunset Overdrive
Sunset Overdrive can be described as a third person shooter. Open world and fast paced are also apt descriptions. What it basically looks like though is a sensationalist adaptation of Tony Hawk: Pro Skater turned shooter. What I’m trying to say is that it looks amazing, just watch for yourself:
Right? Right?
If that doesn’t look like fun to you, you might not have a pulse.
Civilization: Beyond Earth
Developed by Firaxis Games, Civ: Beyond Earth looks every bit what you would want a Sci Fi predecessor to the Civilization series to be. With some new mechanical tweaks, new themes, and new technologies, anyone who is in to turn based strategy won’t be able to say no:
I know we’ll be speaking with 2K about this title later in the show, but this is absolutely something I want to scope out day one.
Boarderlands: The Pre-Sequel
2K is on a roll, showing up twice on this list with Boarderlands: The Pre-Sequel. On one hand, I should be able to just say: “We’ve got another Boarderlands” and that would be enough for most people. For those of you looking for an extra nudge, it’s Boarderlands on the moon. With new guns, new elements, and oxygen tanks that not only allow you to breath in space but can be used as a jet pack, there is almost nothing NOT to be excited about:
Dragon Age: Inquisition
Now this is a personal favorite of mine. I love the Dragon Age series. The RPG genre is just one I’ve always had a soft spot for. Dragon Age: Inquisition looks to not disappoint. With a combination of strategic decision making and skillful execution of action packed combat, this is probably already a must buy. Throw in large open maps, and a recently announced multiplayer mode?
I can see the hours slipping away already.
Assassin’s Creed: Unity
This may be the game that gets me back into the Assassin’s Creed series. I enjoyed the first title, loved the second one, and then sort of lost interest. I hear Black Flag was awesome, but the pirate thing just didn’t do it for me, setting wise. The French Revolution though? Could there be a more perfect setting for an Assassin’s Creed game? With the progress that’s been made in the series and the directions Ubisoft is taking this franchise, I could not be more excited:
That makes 5. The 5 most exciting titles I hope to be checking out at PAX Prime this year. With mere hours to go… I could be enjoying these games as you read this.
