Masaya Matsuura and Keiichi Yano are collaborating to bring a new rhythm action game to the masses: Project Rap Rabbit. Matsuura and Yano are the creative minds behind Parappa the Rapper and Gitaroo Man respectively.
The story will follow Toto-Maru as he tries to bring together a diversifying world amidst a terrible calamity. With the power of music and the help of his side-kick, Otama-Maru, he will have to restore peace and unify the world once again.
With the combined minds of rhythm action game legends Matsuura and Yano, Project Rap Rabbit hopes to take the genre to new heights. The game’s battle system will encourage players to be creative. From their Kickstarter, developers NanaOn-Sha and iNiS J said the game will allow players to influence the music:
Project Rap Rabbit ensures YOU are in control of the raps. Songs aren’t just a series of linear lines to tap through, but full dialogue trees of variable verses filled with creative put-downs, bragging and clever rhymes.
Matsuura will serve as a music director, in addition to his duties as creative director. Matsuura also served as music director on Parappa the Rapper. The game is being developed as a joint project between NanaOn-Sha and iNiS J. In addition to the Parappa series and Gitaroo Man, the studios have worked on other rhythm titles including Vib-Ribbon and Elite Beat Agents.
