Team17 and Cambridge-based independent developer Ghost Town Games have released Overcooked: Special Edition for the Nintendo Switch. The chaotic co-operative cooking game brings its craziness to Nintendo’s latest console with a bevvy of additional content.
Overcooked, released in 2016, tasks players to cook up a wide range of dishes within a set time frame. Although a simple premise, it is elevated with stylized avatar design and creative environments. The environments, which change based on area of the map, add a unique look in addition to challenges as the game progresses.
Overcooked: Special Edition includes (obviously) the core Overcooked game along with previously released DLC such as The Lost Morsel and Festive Seasoning add-ons. Thanks to the portability of the Switch, players can now cook on the go! Further adding to the game is the HD rumble feature which brings in a new element.
The special edition of last year’s surprise hit includes the following features:
- 44 campaign levels which can be played solo or couch co-op with up to 4 players
- 9 versus levels to play head to head locally up to 4 players
- 22 different chefs to choose from: a human, raccoon, dinosaur, French bulldog, robot or even a reindeer just for the hell of it
- A plethora of recipes to master: soup, burritos, burgers, fish and chips; just to name a few
Overcooked: Special Edition is available digitally on the eShop for the Nintendo Switch for $19.99. The game has previously been released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.
