Oh Snap | RetroN 5 Looks Awesome

In March, Hyperkin announced their newest retro console, the RetroN 5.

I’ve been close in purchasing older models of Hyperkin‘s system so I could play my old games again. You see, I collect gaming systems and games and there’s a story behind that. When I was seventeen, I had this crazy mind set that I should grow and stop playing video games. This bizarre train of thought resulted in me giving away my systems. I’ve come to regret that. Since then, I’ve been trying to get those systems and more back. The retro systems that I own do work, however my SNES is missing the cords and my NES is finicky, only wanting to work when it wants. It drives me nuts having to take the time out to get a game to work, taking more time in that than actually playing said game.

With the RetroN 5 not only can it play NES and SNES games, it can also play Genesis, Master Drive, Famicon, Super Famicon, GBA, GBC, and Gameboy games. That’s insane, right? This means the RetroN 5 can play both NTSC and PAL games and it has ports to use your NES, SNES, and Genesis controllers. But the sweet stuff doesn’t end there.

This thing also has HDMI output. The RetroN 5 has the capability to play on HD TVs instead of having to drag out a CRT from storage. The system will convert your beloved retro video games to look crisper, up to 720p. The audio and video will be improved when playing on the RetroN 5  as well.

Check out my Oh Snap! video on my reaction to Hyperkin‘s RetroN 5. Hopefully we’ll see this baby by summertime.
