NPD: April 2010

Compared to March NPD numbers, April was a very slow month for games. Fortunately, that did not stop one man….

Sneaking in at the number one spot, is no other than Sam Fisher with Splinter Cell: Conviction. Ubisoft’s game was able to pull off an amazing 486,100 sales as it continue do even better world wide. Nintendo’s first party games was able to take the next three spots as both Pokemon Soulsilver/Heartgold and NEw Super Mari Bros. Wii was able to sell between 190,000 and 242,900 copies. Kratos was still flexing his muscles as God of War III took the fifth spot with around 180,000 copies sold with in the month. Lastly, Super Street Fighter IV did amazing, as it only came out at the end of the month. Sales for May should be interesting for Capcom’s new game.

With no doubt of surprises, Nintendo manages to stay on top, once again. The Nintendo DS was able to push out 440,800 units, while the Wii manged to shift 277,200 units. While Microsoft and Sony going neck and neck in sales, the two companies moved 185,400 and 180,800 units respectively. Sony’s portable gaming device was able to move 65,500 units. The NPD tracker thought it was a good idea not to include Playstation 2 numbers anymore. Luckily, we all know it sold in thousands like always.

PlayStation 3 180.8K
PSP 65.5K
Xbox 360 185.4K
Wii 277.2K
Nintendo DS 440.8K

Like we said early, this month was a very slow month. Ubisoft and Nintendo should think differently, though. With all these games coming out in May, the numbers should be very interesting. Input your thoughts below.
