The Nintendo Switch event has confirmed some rumors and consolidated a pretty nice list of titles so far. Check them out!
Ok, so Nintendo held its special presentation in Tokyo already. The Nintendo Switch has been officially presented to the world. We know it will cost $299.99 USD and its system will be region-free.
It’s also time to look at the game trailers presented and compile all the titles that have been confirmed so far. As expected, we have some games for both the launch window and the rest of 2017 and beyond. We also got some confirmations that came without a release date so we’ll need to keep on checking for those.
As you can imagine, The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of the Wild will be accompanying the release of the new console. The presentation left us with a new trailer to water out mouths. Hyrule is looking great here – and like lots of fun!
Nintendo Switch: the Games
1-2 Switch and ARMS were the first two titles to be presented in Tokyo albeit without a release date. After those came the highly-expected announcement of Splatoon 2, which will be arriving around Summer. Following that came a very well-known face: Super Mario Odyssey got confirmed for the end of the year. Its trailer revealed that we will be saying goodbye to Mushroom Kingdom to go on a new sandbox-style journey.
On the RPG side of life, Xenoblade 2 and Fire Emblem Warriors also received their bit of attention. While the newest Warriors spin-off is also arriving by end of the year, Xenoblade 2 has no release date at this time. Square Enix also jumped to the front line to confirm that the Bravely Default team is currently working on a new RPG that goes with the code name of Project Octopath Traveler. Also announced was a new entry int he Shin Megami Tensei franchise. Intriguing… And yes, those Skyrim snippets we saw on the original Nintendo Switch trailer were actually real. We do know not know when it’s coming but the Tokyo event confirmed its existence in their catalog.
Nintendo used the following compilation to get a glimpse of which third-party games are also coming. These include (but are not limited to): Minecraft: Story Mode, Skylanders, Dragon Quest Heroes X&XI, Rayman Legends, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, Lego City Undercover, Project Sonic 2017, Just Dance 2017, FIFA 18, NBA 2K18, Rime, Street Fighter, Bomberman, No More Heroes, and Steep, among others.
We also know that Shovel Knight, Stardew Valley, and Seasons of Heaven form part of a bigger list. Remember, there are over 80 games heading their way to Nintendo Switch – and the list is likely to expand soon. We’ll be hearing more about those in the upcoming months, we are sure of that.
Last but not least, Nintendo also confirmed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is arriving to stores on April 28.
