After it’s much awaited announcement back at E3, we’ve finally learned some new details about Pikmin 3, the newest entry in the RTS franchise from Nintendo.
A Pikmin title in HD. No, I’m not dreaming; featuring the same color and vibe that made New Super Mario Bros. U look so appealing, Pikmin 3 is sure to be one of the best looking launch games for the Wii U. It’s hard to tell how it compares to, say, the Xbox 360 or PS3 in terms of visuals during Nintendo Direct.
Instead of spending time talking about the game, today’s Nintendo Direct episode let the game play do the talking. We’re shown off various baddies and dangerous environments, all of which we were expecting form the Pikmin universe. We also were shown a scenario were Olimar had to throw an ally onto a platform, pick some Blue Pikmin, who proceeded to bring fruit across water back to the ship.
No new features were announced. Literally, the video was just gameplay footage with no narration. It’s nice to see how the game is coming along, but to say I’m a bit disappointed is a bit of an understatement.
Pikmin 3 will be out in the second quarter of 2013. Yes, that means it’s been delayed once again. Hopefully for more polish.
