New Star Fox Zero Trailer Shows Off Transforming Vehicles

Nintendo has released a new trailer for Star Fox Zero, the upcoming Wii U title, releasing worldwide April 22, 2016. This trailer shows off some of the crazy transforming vehicles in the game.

Some of these specialized transforming vehicles include The Walker, which basically looks like a chicken in Star Fox ship form, but still looks like it’ll be a lot of fun to use. The Gyro Wing is another one that will be used for more technical aspects of levels it seems to get more puzzle-esque things done in levels. The Landmaster is a slower-moving vehicle that seems like it’ll pack a punch.

The trailer also shows off the GamePad’s usage as a controller and the role of Amiibos. The Amiibos will be used to give you different styles of Arwings, including a retro Super Nintendo one if you use the Fox Amiibo (which oddly blends in with this new game pretty well).

Additionally, the second half of the trailer shows off Star Fox Guard, a standalone tower defense title included with every $60 purchase of Star Fox Zero (Zero can be purchased on its own for $50 where as Guard will be a standalone $15 downloadable title). Guard doesn’t look incredibly interesting but it seems as though it will utilize the GamePad screen in interesting ways, akin to the likes of how Nintendoland was supposed to show off the GamePad. It will be interesting to see if Nintendo can pull off making the GamePad a useful controller.

Star Fox Zero

The question worth asking is why Nintendo is finally trying to implement the GamePad in a more forceful manner. It seems as though it became an aside quite quickly but this game seems to want to throw the GamePad in your face. One would hope that this doesn’t ruin the game by force-feeding the player motion controls and the GamePad’s screen. It is certainly a worry by many Star Fox fans.

What do you think of this new Star Fox Zero trailer? Are you worried about the GamePad’s excessive use? Let us know in the comments below!
