Harebrained Schemes are bringing a new Shadowrun game to Kickstarter in January 2015.
New concept art on the Shadowrun Kickstarter page shows a slightly new direction for the series. Fans think the new concept art hints towards a Shanghai, Tokyo or Hong Kong setting. It’s an interesting, if unsurprising development. Hong Kong seems like the most likely choice, as it was second to Berlin, the setting of the latest Shadowrun game, in a survey on the kickstarter page.
“Here’s a piece of look & feel concept art for our new setting. We’ll show how it translates into Shadowrun‘s isometric gameplay view when our Kickstarter launches in January!” – Harebrained Schemes
Shadowrun: Returns is an isometric 2D tactical RPG and was kickstarted back in 2013. It received favourable reviews and decent sales. To me Returns seemed more like a proof of concept, than a proper campaign. The Dragonfall expansion is the epic and lengthy story the Shadowrun universe deserves. It was released as a standalone title earlier this year and was recently ported to iOS.
We reviewed Shadowrun: Dragonfall earlier in the year and praised it for its compelling story, characters, world and satisfying combat. Read the full review to find out more. Along with Shadowrun, Harebrained Schemes are also working on an action-focused roguelike called Necropolis.
