Ghost Games announced they are deep into the development of their next Need for Speed game, and it’s scheduled for release this year.
Fans of the series felt that the latest installment in the famed racing series left much to be desired. Thankfully Ghost Games has been listening.
Customization has always been a staple feature of the franchise. Sadly, their 2015 relaunch fell a little flat in terms of aesthetic options. Many players fondly remember Need for Speed: Underground 2 and the hours spent tweaking everything to make the perfect car. Hopefully with this new focus on customization, Ghost Games can make customization incredibly addicting again.
Cops will also play a bigger role in the upcoming game. Ghost Games promises cops will have even more ways to become involved in races. “Cops in pursuit, racers up ahead and then out of nowhere BAM! They bring a Rhino to a street race,” said the developer in a post on the franchise’s website. Sounds pretty intense right? Here’s hoping they find a way to implement these scenarios seamlessly, without taking away from the core game.
Ghost Games also took note of the community response to the always-online nature of the previous game. Players had to be constantly connected to the servers to play the game even for single player modes. Thankfully, this is going to change.
“So, when release day rolls around for the next Need for Speed, you will be able to play through a single player experience completely offline. Before you ask, and we know you will, this does mean you will be able to pause the game,” said Ghost Games in the statement. Fanatics rejoice!
More information for the upcoming Need for Speed will be revealed as we draw closer to EA Play. We’ll be covering any news or information we hear, so make sure to keep checking back with The Game Fanatics.
