AGM Playism has released a new trailer for Murasaki, a unique puzzle shooter. Check out the trailer and other details here.
AGM Playism is the company behind localizing many doujin games – including the first official localized release of a Touhou game – in the past. The publisher has revealed a new trailer for a unique bullet hell game, Murasaki. The game plays like a puzzle shooter with bullet hell elements. Shooting blocks will clear the bullets, and create more maneuvering space. When most players imagine a bullet hell or a shoot ’em up, they will see a screen scrolling upward or to the left. The player has to shoot all the threats on the screen as the level auto scrolls itself.
Murasaki is unique in that the screen doesn’t scroll. Instead the player is set in one screen, and is only allowed to fire one bullet at a time. The goal of the game is to shoot blocks into other blocks to create an explosion that will clear the screen of the bullets. Shooting blocks into other blocks of the same size, and color will create a bigger explosion. Fighting bosses, and using their projectiles against them will also be a viable strategy.
If things start to go south, players can always use a bomb. Think of it as an extreme version of breakout. “Murasaki is not an easy game in the beginning, but once you get used to it, it becomes really addictive,” AGM Playsim boasts. There will also be two different characters with different play styles.
Kairi is a slow moving character with long range shots, and Satsuki is fast moving with short range shots. Both character’s bombs also have unique effects. The former’s bomb effects adsorbs enemy projectiles to become more powerful, while Satsuki’s explodes quickly, with lots of damage. The game is slated for release on May 13th of this year and is developed by doujin circle, Katatema. It’ll be available for $4.99 and will come with a free Steam key with purchase.
